My name is Fay Pisciotta and I teach 7th grade Life Science here at Brewer. I also teach Environmental Science as an elective class. I love teaching this class because we learn about Creek, Bay and Marine Ecology and Recycling and Global Climate Change. The Students develop and implement their own service project at the end of the class so that they can improve the environment!
I have been a teacher at Brewer for 5 years and have seen many changes. I love the students here because they are always teaching me different things. I enjoy working with the other teachers in the Panther Leaders family. Some of my favorites each year are the Science Fair and all of the dissections in 7th grade.
I grew up in San Diego and love doing anything in and around the ocean. I enjoy SCUBA diving, body surfing, and sailing. I definitely miss the warmer waters down south. I also love to travel and have been to Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Dominica in the past few years. I am planning a trip to Italy for next summer to visit the fishing port town of Pisciotta (I'm expecting them to throw rose petals in the streets once I arrive, hehe).
I went to college at UC Santa Barbara for my BS in Environmental Studies. I went to a community college in San Diego for 2 years to save up money for tuition before I transferred. At Santa Barbara, I worked part time teaching students marine biology on a vessel in the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary and fell in love with teaching science!
