Winter Project
Mr. Jenkins' science classes are doing a winter project over the break. Students from his class are hoping to get out of school for vacation, but there is a long project for them to do. Students have to make an animal cell model or a plant cell model that has a worth of 50 points. They also have to finish their “Cells and Organelles” book, which is worth 50 points too.
I interviewed students from Mr. Jenkins’ science class about what they think and Mr. Jenkins himself. I asked 3 questions about what they thought about the winter project:
1.What do you think about Mr. Jenkins’ winter project assignment?
2.What project are you going to do and what materials are in it?
3.How much money do you think you will use for this project?
I’ve interviewed some students from his class about what they think. Warren, a 7th grader from Mr. Jenkins’ class, said, “I think Mr. Jenkins’ winter project assignment is just too much. Winter vacation is a time for us to just relax from all the schoolwork, but we have been assigned the past, 10 or so weeks, and that assignment was like putting a boulder for us to bring home with us.” He also said, “ I’m going to make a cell, out of a shoe box, the materials I would probably need would be the shoe box, glitter, glue, paper, scissors, and some sandwich bag wrappers. I’ll spend 0 cents on it.”
Andrew, another student from his class said, “I think that the winter break project is somewhat challenging and fun. It might be boring, but at least we have something to do over the break.” He also stated, “My partner and I, Rikey, will be doing a model of an animal cell for the winter break project.” In conclusion, he replied, “I think I’ll be using 6 cents! Haha! Just kidding. I think I might use just about 10 dollars.”
Mr. Jenkins also made some spare time for me to interview him. This is what he said, “I think it is the greatest winter project assignment ever. Well this is what Mr. Jenkins thought about it but not everyone thought that.
David, another 7th grader from Mr. Jenkins’ class, stated, “I like that project because I don’t really like tests. I don’t really like to study that’s why I like this project. I am doing the plant cell, and I am going use lots of cardboard and paper. I going to waste not that much money but I am going to do a good job on that project.
Well we found out that some people like the project and some people don’t like the project. Mostly people don’t like the project because it is work for the holidays and it is still work. Even though some people don’t like it, all Mr. Jenkins’ students have to do it.
