School Events

Do we want more?

by Tori Duong

January 09, 2007

From dances, to shows, to announcements and meetings, the school throws events every once in while. Though meetings and announcements are thrown very often, dances and shows are a bit neglected. We don’t have many of them, but their fun and we should have a few more of them, at least that’s my opinion. I wanted to know if other students thought so, too.

I asked students, if they liked the school events they’ve been in so far. Did they think there were very few? Would you like more events? More of what events? I am very eager to hear everyone’s thoughts.

I interviewed a 7th grader. His name is Kevin. I asked him if he liked the school events so far? “Yes, because they were fun!” He smiled as he said this. “I would LOVE a lot more events, some random events, just something for fun” And just like I thought “There aren’t many events…” That was interesting, he also thinks that there aren’t many school events.

Elina, another 7th grader I interviewed, had similar opinions to Kevin. She said “Yes, the events I’ve been to were really fun and I wish we had more events because we don’t have that many…” Then I asked her, what events would she like more of? She responded. “Events that we an have fun activities and just play around”

Veronica, an 8th grader, had more differed opinions. “I did like the events but not too much, and I think more events would be good but more fun ones.”  She didn’t seem to love the events but she seemed open to ideas. “I think I’d like more shows and dances, something for entertainment” She instantly knew what to say when I asked her the last question. Her answer was “No, there aren’t many events”

Alright, so everyone that I interviewed, they all thought that there weren’t a lot of events, that we should have more, and they at least liked the events so far. They share similar opinions to me, I love the school events but, unfortunately, there aren’t many of them, and I would also like more dances, shows, and random events. I’m going to see if I can do anything about this. Maybe I could start a petition and get enough signatures, maybe then Ms. Marantz will agree. Well, whatever I do, I’ll do as much as I can to get this problem fixed.
