What kids do on the Internet
Have you ever wondered what your classmates or your children’s classmates do on the Internet? They could be doing many things from going on their “Myspace”, to killing virtual dragons. I decided to find out. I asked one boy and one girl from each grade to tell me what they do mostly on the Internet. I gave them the four most commonly done things on the Internet: playing games, going to “Myspace”, watching online videos, chatting with their friends.
I first started asking 6th graders what they did on the Internet. I found someone named Devonte. He told me that he played games most of the time, and said “I've been playing games since I was young.” Then, I interviewed a girl who wanted to remain anonymous with the same questions. She told me that she watched online videos most of the time.
Then, I asked some 7th graders. The first person I interviewed from the 7th grade was a girl named Olivia. She told me she played games most of the time, but then she said she was lying because she actually read on the Internet most of the time, but since there was no reading choice, she had to choose playing games. Then I asked a boy named David. He told me that he plays games most of the time. He also said that playing games can make you type much faster.
Finally, I started to interview some 8th graders. The first person I interviewed was a boy named Darrell. He said he went on “Myspace” most of the time. Then I asked a girl named Taylor. She told me that she watched online videos most of the time and she said nothing else.
It appears that most kids in Edna Brewer play games. Different ages and genders mostly play games, but if online videos and “Myspace” continue to get even more popular, then we might see a change in what kids do on the Internet.
