Darwin and Dina lost their children!!!
Darwin and D'NA had babies during the winter break. After a week or two went by, someone came into Mr. Jenkins’ class and broke the cage and took the eggs. Mr. Jenkins is giving out a $50 reward to anyone that finds the eggs. They are 2 joined eggs from the Madagascar Day Gecko eggs. I asked some students from the 7th grade building about what they thought about this incident.
I asked 5 questions about what they thought:
1. Who do you think might have done this?
2. What do you think about this incident?
3. What do you think you can do to help find the eggs?
4. Do you feel sad, happy, or mad about this situation?
5. Do you think you can find the eggs and get that $50 reward?
I asked Warren, a 7th grader from Mr. Jenkins’ class about what he thought about this. Here is what he had to say, “I have no specific idea for any person that might do something as to gecko eggs, especially stealing it, and then making a mockery of Mr. Jenkins, the owner of the eggs. I think this incident is really bad, I feel really sorry for Mr. Jenkins, as this is a major loss for him. I think I could help by making flyers and asking around, with this many students, one of them must know something about it. Personally, I feel really sad that this happened. This has caused an enormous mental impact on my teacher, and I despise the fact that he feels so sad while he’s teaching. No, I don’t think I can find the eggs.”
I also asked Andrew, another 7th grader about this incident, “I think a teacher might have done this because I think this is a lesson plan to make us get better at our observation skills. I think Mr. Jenkins is consistently looking for the eggs since it is his, and he deserves to have them back. I don’t know what I can do to find the eggs since they are so small. I felt sad in the beginning, but now I feel that I should do more. No, it is like a chance of 1 to a million for me to find those eggs.”
Well, I got bored and asked Mr. Jenkins about what he thought about this. “I don’t know, I don’t think anybody dislikes me that much. I’m very sad that this has happened. We can do all the tests we can do to find the eggs. We are going to do hair analysis, hand writing analysis, ink analysis, scent analysis, and more.”
You know what I think? I think this is a lesson plan too, but we won’t really know until the end of the unit. Well, Mr. Jenkins just wants everybody to try to find the eggs. If you find them, you can get a $50 reward from Mr. Jenkins, only if you bring it back safely.
