About Edna Brewer Middle School

Hi my name is Dajanne Taylor, I come from Edna Brewer Middle School and I would like to tell you a little bit about my school!
First let me just say the Principal (Jamie Marantz) is wonderful she could be a little serious at times but she’s cool though. Our Vice Principal (Ms. Martin) is very fun to be around and also is a bit serious at times too but we try not to let little stuff like that worry us too much!
Our school is very beautiful we got stuff that is very creative on the walls of Edna Brewer. We have stuff that other schools wish they had but don’t have enough money to make it happen. Man! If you were walking the halls of Edna Brewer you would see what I see and I see very creative and hard working students. This year (class of 2006-07) has 15% of students with bad behavior and attitude problems and they get consequences for that. Cause we’re not having that this year we are trying to be the best Middle school in the Oakland Unified School District but how could we if every body always fighting all the time.
Our test scores are high but not as high as they could be. We all should be getting 90-100% on our test but how could we? There’s always a class clown everywhere you go so you can’t concentrate. Well I wouldn’t say everywhere we go I would just say some places. Sometimes class clowns are fun but at times they could be very annoying.
As I am writing this I think of all the fun times we use to have last year but this year it isn’t the same anymore but that’s ok because it’s much more peaceful and less fighting. Last year it was an argument every day over some he/she say mess and it always use to escalate into a fight no matter what the teacher’s or the principal say they would always pump the person up just to see a fight. That’s how scandalous people use to be last year but this year is different it’s more of talking and less fighting.
Man let me tell you our after school programs is the best because we have dance, world drumming, basketball, sports 4 kids, bike club, club live, and some other stuff I just don’t remember. But the programs I just named are a lot of fun and have good exercise so your body could be in shape as well as having fun.
Well that’s all I could tell you about Edna Brewer Middle. Just know this though: our middle school (well this is what I think; no telling what you might think) but I think our middle school is the best in the Oakland unified school district!
